I am back

THANKS Again, I want to thank everyone! All the individuals and the student organizations at the University of Florida who helped in gathering the school supplies. Also those on facebook who helped in covering the cost of shipping.All of the donations added up and I was able to ship the supplies successfully. After much confusion with the airline prices and policies I was forced to find a shipping company last minute. Thanks to XS Baggage.com who graciously helped by granting a substantial discount of $1000 off the total price of shipping. Yes, shipping is that expensive!

 

 

 

 

I have arrived!

I have arrived in South Africa. My bags arrived as well, which is always a plus! Thanks to everyone’s financial support, I was able to ship the school supplies through an air cargo service called XS Baggage. (www.xsbaggage.com) This was especially great because I found out about three days before departing that BOTH airlines that I booked with were going to charge $375.00 EACH! These fees were of course, not an option. After explaining my predicament to XS Baggage they agreed to ship all 250 lbs for $500.

Thanks to the news story Jacksonville did before I left I have met some incredible people. One is actually an American who like me decided to get up one day, and move to South Africa. She is incredibly informative about life on this side and seems to be excited about helping me adjust!
